18 februari 2025 is de release van de 2024 Monster Manual Guide van Dungeons and Dragons.

10 jaar na de release van de vijfde editie van de Dungeons and Dragons Core rule boeken, vindt Wizards of the Coast het tijd voor een update. De Players Handbook en Dungeons Masters Guide zijn al aan de beurt geweest. Nu is het tijd voor de Monster Manual.

Dit nieuwe boek is met alle 5e boeken te gebruiken.

Wat is er allemaal nieuw in deze Monster Manual?

De Oude Monster Manual heeft een decennium prima gewerkt maar van uit de community kwamen er toch wat opmerkingen door de jaren heen.. Het grootste punt was het beperkte aantal monsters voor high level campagnes.

Dit probleem is opgelost met veel nieuwe en grote creatures. Veel zijn helemaal nieuw, andere komen uit de eerder MM, Mordenkainen´s Tome of Foes of Volo´s Guide to Monsters.

Het complete artwork is helemaal vernieuwd. Daarnaast hebben de verschillende Monsters veel meer lore gekregen. Dit is natuurlijk geweldig nieuws voor iedere Dungeons Master.

Een grote draak is best eng, maar iets van een achtergrondverhaal brengt de slechteriken in je avonturen tot leven.

Ondanks dat de Monsters Manuel in 2025 uit komt is dit boek toch onderdeel van 2024 rules update.

February 18, 2025, marks the release of the 2024 Monster Manual Guide for Dungeons and Dragons.

Ten years after the release of the fifth edition of the Dungeons and Dragons Core Rulebooks, Wizards of the Coast has decided it’s time for an update. The Player’s Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide have already been updated. Now, it’s time for the Monster Manual.

This new book is compatible with all 5th edition books.

So, what’s new in this Monster Manual?

The old Monster Manual has served well over the past decade, but the community has had some feedback over the years. The main issue was the limited number of monsters for high-level campaigns.

This problem has been addressed with many new and large creatures. Many are entirely new, while others are drawn from the previous Monster Manual, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, or Volo’s Guide to Monsters.

The complete artwork has been entirely revamped. Additionally, the various monsters now have much more lore. This is, of course, excellent news for every Dungeon Master.

A large dragon is certainly terrifying, but a background story brings the villains in your adventures to life.

Although the Monster Manual will be released in 2025, it is still part of the 2024 rules update.
